Applauding Yourself on the Path to Success

I’m sure that we’d all like to have a stable amount of happiness in our lives, and to be in a good mood as much as possible. I can’t imagine any psychologically healthy person not to feel the same way. In the same manner that we all desire to feel happy and good inside, many times there are people that struggle feeling happy for others in regards to their happiness, and that’s usually when others have certain things that they lack. For those types of people, so much of the struggle that they feel inside from envy, jealousy, and spite wouldn’t be there if they were truly happy themselves.

That doesn’t mean that it’s alright to feel bitter, jealous, or angry at others when their lives seem better in certain ways. On the contrary, I’m just noting the fact that it would be easier to feel happiness towards all people, if you’re in a healthy mindset and feeling good about yourself and your life. Feeling envious and jealous is human nature. But, it’s something that we as people need to work on. For some, more than others, because as adults, there’s no good excuse not to be happy witnessing the joy and success in others.

A good way to achieve happiness in life is to stop concentrating on comparing yourself to others as far as what they have, how they look, and what they’ve accomplished in life. Just like many quotes will remind you, it’s important to compare yourself with yourself, instead of others. If you see that other people have become successful in certain areas of their life, and you’re choosing to emulate their success, then there’s nothing wrong with reading up and doing some research on them in regards to how they came to their success.

However, you shouldn’t compare yourself with them in a way that could even remotely bring you down, because the last thing that you need while striving towards your goals is to feel deflated or less than. Comparing yourself to others can many times leave you feeling down, depressed, or as if you’re not good enough. Things happen at different times for different people, and usually depending on a lot of different factors. It’s important not to compare yourself with others, because no real good can come from it.

Becoming a happy person is something that we can all control. We all have the choice to be happy and in a good mood. I’ve written about this subject many times before, and likely because happiness is the ultimate goal in life. When it comes to being happy, and I mean truly happy and at peace in every possible way, we need to take some pressure off of ourselves. What I mean by that is not to be so hard on ourselves, being that many times we strive for perfection to the point where nothing satisfies us or seems good enough. We need to give ourselves a break in life once in awhile and enjoy each moment as it comes. We should applaud ourselves for all that we do, and all that we accomplish in life.

It’s kind of ironic really that many times the most successful people in life aren’t really happy. More financially comfortable, yes, perhaps. But happy, not so much. I find that to be truly unfortunate, because like I said, the ultimate goal is happiness, not success, not being rich, and not love or anything else. The point of becoming successful is either ego-based or it’s because you want to live a comfortable life or provide one for those that you love and care for. Having said that, being successful should be done in a way where you feel as much happiness as possible.

Anything that you do in life is always better if you do it in a happy way, and in a way where you enjoy the moment as you’re living it, as opposed to thinking about the future so much that you don’t enjoy today, and this very moment. Don’t get me wrong, because I know that many times there are struggles and hardships before one can embrace what success and luxury feels like. But if you don’t try to go about becoming successful in a way where a stable amount of happiness exists, there’s a big chance that you’ll become successful, but it likely won’t bring you happiness.

Despite how much you achieve in life, just the fact that you’re putting yourself out there, going after your goals, striving towards success, and all of the things that you want to achieve, you deserve an applause. You should pat yourself on the back, instead of being so hard on yourself and expecting so much. Many times getting to the point of actual success in life takes time, paying your dues, and struggling before being able to attain your goals. If you know that you’re trying your best to achieve your goals, then be good to yourself, and take some of the pressure off from expecting perfection and immediate results or success. It’s important to know that anything good in life takes hard work, time, effort, and a lot of patience. You can’t expect to get great results if you’re not willing to do all of the above.

Remember, there are always things that you can do to create more happiness in your life. But, one of the main things to keep in mind is that having unrealistic expectations or desiring to have quick, and immediate results and success when you’re just starting out in life or in a new business, etc., is that things take time. This includes everything from new relationships, new start ups, to learning new things in life.

It takes more than effort and hard work to achieve true success in life. Success in life involves balance, and to have balance, you need to feel happy in every aspect of your life. To feel that happiness, you have to be good to yourself, love yourself, know your worth, and applaud yourself throughout your journey. You don’t need to be at the finish line to get applause. You should applaud yourself from within for putting yourself out there and striving towards your goals.

  1. I really love this piece! It’s so easy to get caught up in how good someone else’s life is and how our success is so much less than others. I’ve been “successful” and stressed but now choose to be relaxed, less successful in a financial sense but more successful focussing on the things I love. For me it’s a better choice ?
