Hey! You! Get out of Your Funk!

We’ve all had good days and bad days. If I were to dissect that statement—we all have good moments and bad moments. When you’re having a hard time, and you’re struggling to just make it through the day, give yourself a moment, so that you don’t give anyone else your negative and toxic energy. Sometimes, we just need to be by ourselves. The fact is, when people are having a bad day, or feel in a funk of some sort, they’re basically toxic. You’re toxic for other people and also for yourself. We’re all toxic once in awhile. But what’s important, is not to give other people that toxicity, and to avoid being around others when you’re in such a bad mood, and in such an emotionally stressed out state of mind.

I could tell someone that’s in a bad mood to just, smile, do 10 jumping jacks, and that everything will be O.K. But the truth is, everyone handles situations, and more so, their emotions in a different way. Some people are more sensitive than others, while others are just simply hard on themselves, and at times, even feel as if they’re a disappointment to the world. I know, I know, some people can be very hard on themselves. Trust me when I say this; the drama queens and kings exist. I’ve seen it first hand, and I can honestly tell you that some people are so critical of themselves, that they feel alone and as if no one is on their side or even cares about them. This is not even pessimism really, because it’s more so the lack of having a good self-esteem, and self worth.

It’s important to know how wonderful you are, and to know that each and every one of us is worthy and special in our own unique and different way. Everyone goes through hard times and hard moments throughout their lives, and even on a daily basis. But when we give our negative energy to other people, we’re going to mess up their day as well. When you’re having a bad day, you should be self-aware enough to realize it, and to separate yourself from communicating with others. Of course, this depends on how toxic you’re feeling. Like I said before, we all become toxic once in awhile. This doesn’t mean that you’re a toxic person or that you have any type of emotional problems. It just means that we all have bad days once in awhile, and sometimes we simply need to recoup and be by ourselves until we get through that moment or that day.

Sometimes people don’t really have the option of being alone, when they’re having a bad day, because they’re at work or even required to be at a social gathering, etc. There could be many reasons, but either way, sometimes we don’t have a choice to be by ourselves and get through a bad mood or moment. At times like that, try to disconnect and separate yourself emotionally, so that you don’t give off any your negative energy, negative vibes, or give your bad mood to others. It’s actually quite contagious, believe it or not.

O.K., here’s the tricky part. Sometimes people are not only in a bad mood for a moment, or a day, but they seem to be in a bad mood for weeks and even months. Now, although, I still wouldn’t consider people like this toxic, I do feel that people like this tend to have more to work on within themselves. You need to figure out why you’re upset in the first place, and shake off your bad mood. We can all make a decision whether to be in a good mood or a bad mood. This is something that we have control over. There are many things that we can all do to uplift our spirits, even if it’s just for a few moments here and there. Find a way to laugh, or smile. Exercise, and give your system a jolt of positive energy by eating well, and taking care of yourself. Get rid of the negative people in your life, and surround yourself with good, positive, and enlightened individuals.

Now, as to why you’re in a bad mood in the first place, this is something that you’re going to need to figure out on your own. Only you can answer this question, because you’re going to need to figure out what’s bothering you, what’s bugging you, and what’s tearing you apart, to the point that it’s taking over your mood and positive energy. No one should walk around in a bad mood all of the time or feel so miserable that it takes over their whole being, where they come across to others as negative, and a toxic person—despite the fact that they’re not, and it’s just a bad mood. You need to ask yourself, what’s really bugging you, and once you know, do whatever you can to make a change for the better.

Sometimes we’re just stuck in a rut, and until we do something about it, nothing’s going to change. We can either choose to sit there, in our miserable state of mind and being, or we can do something about it, and get up out of a chair or bed, so that we can feel better about our lives, and enjoy our days. No one should sit and wallow in a miserable state of mind endlessly, feeling depressed, shame, guilt, or just bad about themselves. Get up, go out, and do something in your life to make a difference, and change yourself for the better. Do whatever you can, to get out of your funk! The only way to do that, and to get out of this messy state of mind is to do things that are going to provoke a happy feeling from the inside out.

It doesn’t matter what you do to feel better; you can go shopping, you can go grab a drink with some friends, read a funny book, or anything really, that might make you feel better. Go eat some candy for the love of God! But whatever you do, find out why you’re upset in the first place, try to fix it, and if you can’t, move on, and live your life, and make the most out of this life that you have and are blessed with, because being depressed and staying in a bad mood is going to torture you from within, and it’s only going to get worse if you don’t change it. Trust me, things could be a lot worse. Oh? What’s that? You’ve heard that saying, and it’s over-used? I don’t give a damn! It’s true! Things could be worse, and they will be if you don’t change your shitty mood.

We can’t always do things in order to change a bad situation, but when you’re in a scenario as such, there’s always one thing that you can do— let it go, move on, and make peace with it. Many people fail in life or mess up and feel disappointment, but giving up should never be an option, and you need to feel good in life, and keep going, even if you’ve been let down or hurt. Be resilient, stay strong, and basically, keep your eye on the ball. Go after what you want in life, and do so in a healthy and positive manner. Keep your chin up, because you’re not alone, and you shouldn’t have a reason to be depressed. We all have good things in our lives, and I’m sure that you’re lucky in different ways, so think about those things and concentrate on all of the things that you have in your life, as opposed to what has gone wrong, or what you lack. Then ultimately, and hopefully, you’ll be in a better mood.
